Saturday, July 5, 2025 \u2014 SOUTH TEXAS<\/strong> continues to experience lingering rainfall<\/strong>, particularly across the Hill Country<\/strong> and along the Interstate 35 corridor<\/strong>, as a mid- to upper-level low pressure system<\/strong> drifts southeast. This same system is responsible for the heavy downpours<\/strong> seen along the Guadalupe River<\/strong> during the Fourth of July<\/strong> holiday, but meteorologists say it’s beginning to weaken.<\/p>\n In San Antonio<\/strong>, the National Weather Service<\/strong> reports a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms<\/strong> through Saturday<\/strong>, with the possibility of up to half an inch of rain<\/strong>. Thanks to rain-cooled air<\/strong>, afternoon highs are forecast to stay below 85\u00b0F (29\u00b0C)<\/strong> \u2014 nearly 10 degrees cooler than the typical early July average<\/strong>. In fact, San Antonio<\/strong> hasn\u2019t recorded a July 5 high temperature below 90\u00b0F (32\u00b0C)<\/strong> since 2007<\/strong>, when it reached just 88\u00b0F (31\u00b0C)<\/strong>, also following a rain event.<\/p>\n According to the High-Resolution Rapid Refresh Model<\/strong>, the bulk of the rainfall<\/strong> through Sunday morning at 7 a.m.<\/strong> is expected to drench the Hill Country<\/strong>. The system driving the rain \u2014 an upper-level disturbance<\/strong> \u2014 is weakening<\/strong>, though still capable of isolated pockets of intense showers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The National Weather Service<\/strong> notes that by Saturday night<\/strong>, the storm motion<\/strong> will become more progressive<\/strong>, which reduces the risk of flooding<\/strong>. Although some localized heavy rain<\/strong> could still fall during the day, the overall precipitation amounts<\/strong> are expected to decline<\/strong>.<\/p>\n By Sunday<\/strong>, San Antonio<\/strong> should begin to dry out<\/strong>, with partly sunny skies<\/strong> returning and temperatures rebounding<\/strong>. Sunday\u2019s high is expected to reach around 90\u00b0F (32\u00b0C)<\/strong>, still roughly 5 degrees cooler than average<\/strong>, but that trend won\u2019t last long.<\/p>\n Despite the cooling effects of recent rain, humid southeast winds<\/strong> off the Gulf Coast<\/strong> are pushing tropical air<\/strong> into South Texas<\/strong>, keeping heat index values<\/strong> in the low 90s\u00b0F (32\u201334\u00b0C)<\/strong>. The National Blend of Models<\/strong>, a composite forecast tool, supports this trend, showing a gradual increase in temperatures as we head into next week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n On Monday<\/strong>, San Antonio<\/strong> will experience mostly sunny skies<\/strong> with a high around 92\u00b0F (33\u00b0C)<\/strong>. Overnight temperatures will drop to about 73\u00b0F (23\u00b0C)<\/strong>. Tuesday\u2019s forecast<\/strong> mirrors Monday, with highs near 93\u00b0F (34\u00b0C)<\/strong> under mostly clear skies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n By Wednesday<\/strong>, the subtropical ridge<\/strong> of high pressure<\/strong> is expected to strengthen, leading to hotter and drier conditions<\/strong>. San Antonio<\/strong> could see highs reaching 95\u00b0F (35\u00b0C)<\/strong>, marking a return to typical July heat<\/strong>.
