A fresh start to the week for the Bay Area<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Monday, July 7, 2025 \u2014 NEW YORK (10:30 AM ET)<\/strong> \u2013 A sluggish upper-level low<\/strong> sitting just offshore is keeping the Bay Area<\/strong> in a cooler-than-average pattern<\/strong> this Monday morning<\/strong>, with widespread cloud cover<\/strong>, patches of drizzle<\/strong>, and below-normal temperatures<\/strong> continuing through Tuesday<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This upper-air system, while not a storm producer<\/strong>, is expanding the marine layer<\/strong>, pulling it farther inland<\/strong> during the early morning and overnight hours<\/strong>. With dry air<\/strong> embedded in this system, expect few showers<\/strong> but plenty of clouds<\/strong>, especially near the coast<\/strong> and around the bay<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Temperatures Monday<\/strong> will range about 5\u00b0F (2.8\u00b0C) below normal<\/strong> near the coast<\/strong> and bay<\/strong>, while inland valleys<\/strong> could dip as much as 10\u00b0F (5.6\u00b0C) below typical mid-July levels<\/strong>. Expect upper 50s to low 60s\u00b0F (15\u201317\u00b0C)<\/strong> in San Francisco<\/strong>, while temperatures gradually climb to the 70s\u00b0F (21\u201326\u00b0C)<\/strong> and low 80s\u00b0F (27\u201328\u00b0C)<\/strong> moving deeper into the East Bay<\/strong>, South Bay<\/strong>, and North Bay valleys<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Warming midweek, but no heat dome expected<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n By Wednesday<\/strong>, a ridge of high pressure<\/strong> will strengthen over the Southwest<\/strong>, slowly pushing warmer air<\/strong> westward. This will send temperatures in Arizona<\/strong>, southern Nevada<\/strong>, and interior Southern California<\/strong> into the 100s to 110s\u00b0F (38\u201343\u00b0C)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In the Bay Area<\/strong>, the real warm-up<\/strong> arrives Wednesday into Thursday<\/strong>, with Thursday<\/strong> likely to be the hottest day<\/strong>. However, this is not<\/strong> expected to evolve into a prolonged, record-breaking heat dome<\/strong>. Interior zones<\/strong> may reach the upper 90s\u00b0F (36\u201337\u00b0C)<\/strong>, with isolated spots<\/strong> hitting the triple digits\u00b0F (38\u201340\u00b0C)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Fortunately, the high pressure center<\/strong> will remain well to the south<\/strong>, and onshore winds<\/strong> will continue to moderate coastal and bay temperatures<\/strong>, keeping highs<\/strong> in those zones in the 70s and 80s\u00b0F (21\u201329\u00b0C)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Forecast by region<\/strong><\/p>\n San Francisco<\/strong>: A thick marine layer<\/strong> will blanket the city throughout Monday morning<\/strong>, possibly producing light drizzle<\/strong>. Expect upper 50s\u00b0F (14\u201315\u00b0C)<\/strong> in the Richmond<\/strong> and Sunset<\/strong> areas, with mid-60s\u00b0F (17\u201318\u00b0C)<\/strong> in Downtown<\/strong> and the Mission District<\/strong>. Southwest winds<\/strong> will blow at 10 to 20 mph<\/strong>, and clouds will roll back in overnight<\/strong>, with lows in the 50s\u00b0F (10\u201313\u00b0C)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n North Bay<\/strong>: Morning clouds<\/strong> will extend inland past Highway 101<\/strong> into areas like Vallejo<\/strong>, before retreating to the coast<\/strong> by midday. Highs will hover in the low to mid-70s\u00b0F (22\u201324\u00b0C)<\/strong> in San Rafael<\/strong>, Santa Rosa<\/strong>, Napa<\/strong>, and Vallejo<\/strong>, rising closer to 80\u00b0F (27\u00b0C)<\/strong> in Fairfield<\/strong> and Vacaville<\/strong>. Nighttime lows<\/strong> fall into the 50s\u00b0F (10\u201313\u00b0C)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n East Bay<\/strong>: The marine layer<\/strong> will cover areas west of the Berkeley Hills<\/strong> early, then sunshine<\/strong> will emerge inland and gradually expand westward. Look for highs in the low to mid-70s\u00b0F (22\u201324\u00b0C)<\/strong> in Richmond<\/strong>, Oakland<\/strong>, and Hayward<\/strong>, with the Tri-Valley<\/strong> warming into the low 80s\u00b0F (27\u00b0C)<\/strong>.
