Precipitation levels<\/strong> are anticipated to stay below average<\/strong>, raising concerns after last year\u2019s record-setting drought<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In fall 2024<\/strong>, New Jersey<\/strong> endured its driest autumn on record<\/strong>, triggering a statewide drought warning<\/strong> that lasted until June 2025<\/strong>. According to State Climatologist David Robinson<\/strong>, October 2024<\/strong> went down as the driest month in state history<\/strong>, with precipitation totals falling 4 inches short<\/strong> of the norm.<\/p>\n The 2024 fall season<\/strong> was not just dry \u2014 it was also abnormally warm<\/strong>. It marked the fourth-warmest fall<\/strong> in the past 130 years<\/strong> for New Jersey<\/strong>. Robinson<\/strong> notes that nine of the ten warmest autumns<\/strong> in state history have occurred since 2005<\/strong>, highlighting a clear warming trend<\/strong>.<\/p>\n And it wasn\u2019t only the fall. 2024<\/strong> as a whole could rank as either the warmest or second-warmest year<\/strong> in New Jersey\u2019s recorded climate history<\/strong>, based on Robinson\u2019s preliminary findings.<\/p>\n Despite its longstanding reputation \u2014 the Old Farmer\u2019s Almanac<\/strong> has been issuing forecasts since the George Washington era<\/strong> \u2014 its predictions can sometimes miss the mark. For fall 2024<\/strong>, the Almanac forecasted cooler and wetter weather<\/strong> for New Jersey<\/strong>, which turned out to be far from reality.<\/p>\n Still, the publication claims an 80% accuracy rate<\/strong> over time.
