Washington, DC<\/strong>, Philadelphia<\/strong>, and New York City<\/strong> are bracing for severe thunderstorms<\/strong> that may bring damaging wind gusts<\/strong> and torrential downpours<\/strong> starting this Tuesday afternoon, July 9, 2025<\/strong>. The unsettled weather is expected to impact more than 85 million people<\/strong> along the heavily traveled Interstate 95 corridor<\/strong>, coinciding with the evening commute<\/strong>.<\/p>\n According to the FOX Forecast Center<\/strong>, rainfall rates could climb to 2 inches per hour<\/strong>, fueled by deep tropical moisture<\/strong> left behind by the remnants of Tropical Depression Chantal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The atmosphere will feel oppressive<\/strong>, with high humidity<\/strong> and a heat index surpassing 90\u00b0F (32\u00b0C)<\/strong> ahead of the storms. The flood threat will remain in place through Wednesday morning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Storms will ignite ahead of a cold front<\/strong> sweeping through the Mid-Atlantic<\/strong> and Northeast<\/strong>.
