RICHMOND, Virginia<\/strong> \u2013 A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect this evening<\/strong>, Tuesday, July 8<\/strong>, across several Central Virginia counties<\/strong>, where intense weather activity<\/strong> is developing.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Buckingham County<\/strong> is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 8:00 p.m.<\/strong>, while Cumberland<\/strong>, Essex<\/strong>, Fluvanna<\/strong>, Goochland<\/strong>, Hanover<\/strong>, King and Queen<\/strong>, Louisa<\/strong>, Northumberland<\/strong>, Powhatan<\/strong>, and Richmond counties<\/strong> are all under warning until 8:15 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n This type of alert signals that dangerous storms have been detected<\/strong> in the vicinity or within the affected areas<\/strong>, and they may produce damaging wind gusts<\/strong>, large hail<\/strong>, frequent lightning<\/strong>, and brief heavy downpours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In addition, the National Weather Service has extended a severe thunderstorm watch across a broader region until 9:00 p.m.<\/strong>, indicating that weather conditions are favorable for severe storm development<\/strong>.
