While the risk is <strong>marginal<\/strong>, it remains significant enough to cause <strong>localized damage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Current storm developments over Lower Michigan<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As of <strong>2:00 p.m. EDT<\/strong>, <strong>clusters of thunderstorms are intensifying<\/strong> across <strong>northeast and central Lower Michigan<\/strong>, pushing into the <strong>southern part of the state<\/strong>. The <strong>Storm Prediction Center<\/strong> outlines a <strong>dark green zone<\/strong> across this region, highlighting the potential for <strong>brief but intense severe weather<\/strong>, including <strong>strong wind gusts<\/strong> and <strong>hail over one inch in diameter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>These storms are forming in <strong>hot, humid conditions<\/strong>, which will help them maintain strength as they slide southeastward into <strong>Ann Arbor<\/strong>, <strong>Detroit<\/strong>, and the surrounding <strong>Southeast Michigan<\/strong> corridor through the evening.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Main threats: Damaging wind and large hail<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Tornadoes are not expected today.<\/strong> However, the forecast does include a chance of <strong>isolated wind gusts exceeding 58 mph (93 km\/h)<\/strong>, especially around <strong>Lansing<\/strong>, <strong>Jackson<\/strong>, <strong>Ann Arbor<\/strong>, <strong>Flint<\/strong>, <strong>Saginaw<\/strong>, <strong>Bay City<\/strong>, <strong>Detroit<\/strong>, and parts of <strong>The Thumb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to wind, <strong>hailstones larger than one inch (2.5 cm)<\/strong> are possible in <strong>intense cells<\/strong>. If you\u2019re in these areas and have the ability to shelter a vehicle, <strong>move it indoors<\/strong> while storms are nearby.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Radar forecast through tonight<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The latest <strong>radar projection<\/strong> from <strong>2:00 p.m. to midnight<\/strong> shows <strong>scattered but powerful thunderstorms<\/strong> moving across <strong>southeast Michigan<\/strong>, with cells expected to reach <strong>Ann Arbor<\/strong> and <strong>Detroit<\/strong> during the late afternoon and early evening hours. These storms will likely be <strong>short-lived<\/strong> but could bring <strong>intense rainfall<\/strong>, <strong>frequent lightning<\/strong>, and <strong>localized wind damage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Because of their <strong>isolated nature<\/strong>, <strong>not every location will experience a storm<\/strong>, but those that do could see <strong>severe conditions lasting less than 30 minutes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Storms weakening tonight<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>By <strong>9:00 p.m.<\/strong>, <strong>storm activity will begin to diminish<\/strong>, and the risk of severe weather should <strong>fade completely<\/strong> before <strong>midnight<\/strong>.
