A round of severe thunderstorms<\/strong> is expected to sweep across western and central New York<\/strong> Thursday afternoon into the evening, bringing the threat of damaging wind gusts<\/strong> and hail<\/strong>, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Forecasters say isolated to scattered storms<\/strong> could develop later in the day, with wind gusts potentially reaching up to 60 mph<\/strong>. There\u2019s also a slight chance of quarter-sized hail<\/strong>, especially in areas where storms become more intense, said meteorologist Dan Kelly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Weather Service<\/strong> has placed much of the region under a marginal risk for severe weather<\/strong>, meaning a few strong storms are possible but likely to remain scattered.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Meanwhile, a warming trend<\/strong> is underway.
