Stormy pattern continues through the weekend in Texas<\/strong><\/p>\n Saturday<\/strong> is shaping up to be a very active weather day<\/strong> across Texas<\/strong>, with storm chances jumping to 60\u201370%<\/strong>, especially during the afternoon hours<\/strong>. The setup behind this spike in activity is a classic example of how the jet stream<\/strong> can shape our weather. Some storms could drop torrential downpours<\/strong> in a short amount of time, leading to localized flooding<\/strong>\u2014particularly in urban areas<\/strong> and low-lying spots<\/strong> where drainage is poor. A flood advisory<\/strong> has already been issued for parts of the region, and that could be expanded depending on how storms evolve.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n No tropical threats in the near term<\/strong><\/p>\n While the tropics<\/strong> are quiet for now, long-range models are hinting at a possible system forming off the Mid-Atlantic coast<\/strong> by Sunday, July 20<\/strong>. That potential remains low, around 10%<\/strong>, and poses no immediate threat to the Texas coastline<\/strong>. Still, it’s something meteorologists will be keeping an eye on as we move deeper into hurricane season.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Typical July heat continues<\/strong><\/p>\n Despite the rain, temperatures<\/strong> will remain solidly in the low to mid-90s\u00b0F (32\u201335\u00b0C)<\/strong> across Houston<\/strong> and much of Southeast Texas<\/strong> through the weekend and into next week. Overnight lows won\u2019t offer much relief either, staying in the upper 70s\u00b0F (around 25\u00b0C)<\/strong>. It\u2019ll be hot, humid<\/strong>, and sticky<\/strong>, with little in the way of a cooldown once the sun sets.<\/p>\n After several weeks of above-normal storm activity<\/strong>, models suggest we\u2019ll finally see a few drier days<\/strong> next week\u2014though they\u2019ll be blisteringly hot<\/strong>.
