PORTLAND, Ore. \u2014<\/strong> The Pacific Northwest<\/strong> is about to face another round of dangerously high temperatures<\/strong> next week, with the Portland metro area<\/strong>, the Columbia River Gorge<\/strong>, and the Willamette Valley<\/strong> all under an extreme heat watch<\/strong> issued by the National Weather Service<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Starting Sunday<\/strong>, July 13<\/strong>, forecasters expect a noticeable warm-up, with highs reaching the mid-90s Fahrenheit (mid-30s Celsius)<\/strong> across the region. The concern isn\u2019t just about discomfort \u2014 it\u2019s about the real and rising risk of heat exhaustion<\/strong> and heat stroke<\/strong>, particularly for vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The warning area also includes the Columbia River Gorge<\/strong>, stretching into Corbett<\/strong>, Hood River<\/strong>, and down into the Lower Columbia<\/strong> and Cowlitz River valleys<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n With intense sunlight<\/strong>, dry conditions<\/strong>, and overnight lows offering little relief, the heat will linger well into the evenings. Health officials are urging residents to stay indoors during the hottest part of the day, stay hydrated<\/strong>, and check in on neighbors<\/strong>, especially the elderly and those without access to air conditioning.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For those without A\/C, using fans to circulate air<\/strong> and keeping windows closed during the day<\/strong> may help prevent indoor spaces from overheating.
