Storms prompt cancellations, postponements for Friday events around Kansas City<\/strong><\/p>\n KANSAS CITY, Mo.<\/strong> \u2014 Several Friday night events across the Kansas City metro<\/strong> have been called off or rescheduled<\/strong> as strong storms<\/strong> are expected to roll through the area late this afternoon and into the evening.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Meteorologists at FOX4<\/strong> say some of the storms could become severe<\/strong>, with the potential for heavy rain, strong winds<\/strong>, and even hail<\/strong> in some spots. They\u2019ll be tracking the system throughout the day and will provide updates on air and online.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n One of the higher-profile cancellations is Crown Center\u2019s WeekEnder<\/strong>, a free outdoor movie and music series<\/strong> that was supposed to begin at 6 p.m. Friday<\/strong> with a performance by a local band followed by a screening of \u201cTwisters.\u201d<\/strong> Organizers say the event has been canceled due to the weather forecast. The next WeekEnder is scheduled for July 18<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In Olathe<\/strong>, city officials announced via Facebook<\/strong> that Friday\u2019s Olathe Live! concert<\/strong> at Stagecoach Park<\/strong> has been rescheduled to October 3<\/strong>. The event, which was also set to include a \u201cTouch-A-Truck\u201d activity<\/strong> for children, was called off because of concerns about possible thunderstorms and high winds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jackson County\u2019s family movie night<\/strong> at Longview Lake Beach<\/strong> has also been canceled. The event, part of the \u201cSand Cinema\u201d<\/strong> series, was supposed to show Disney\u2019s \u201cMufasa: The Lion King\u201d<\/strong> at dusk. Officials said the event has now been rescheduled for July 18<\/strong>, according to a post on X<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Some events are still expected to go ahead, although plans may change depending on how the weather develops.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cBadges, Bikes & Bats,\u201d<\/strong> a community outreach event organized by several Wyandotte County law enforcement agencies<\/strong>, is still on the calendar for 5 to 8 p.m.<\/strong> at Lions Park in Bonner Springs<\/strong>. However, the Bonner Springs Police Department<\/strong> said it may move the event indoors to the Bonner Springs Community Center at 200 E. Third Street<\/strong> if needed. They\u2019ll provide updates on their Facebook page<\/strong> throughout the day.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n As storms move into the region, other outdoor events could still be impacted.
