ATLANTA, Georgia<\/strong> \u2013 A flash flood warning<\/strong> was issued Friday evening for portions of metro Atlanta<\/strong> as another round of strong thunderstorms<\/strong> swept across north Georgia<\/strong>, marking the second straight night<\/strong> of heavy rain and dangerous weather.<\/p>\n The National Weather Service<\/strong> in Peachtree City<\/strong> said the warning will remain in effect until 1 a.m. Saturday<\/strong> for northern Clayton<\/strong>, southwestern DeKalb<\/strong>, south central Fulton<\/strong>, and northwestern Henry counties<\/strong>. Radar from FOX 5 Live VIPIR<\/strong> showed intense storms moving through the area as of 6:53 p.m.<\/strong>, dropping between 2 and 3 inches of rain<\/strong>, with the potential for 1 to 2 more inches<\/strong> overnight.<\/p>\n Flooding is already occurring or is expected to develop quickly in low-lying areas<\/strong>, poor drainage zones<\/strong>, and along streams<\/strong>, roads<\/strong>, and underpasses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Flood-prone areas include Atlanta<\/strong>, Decatur<\/strong>, South Fulton<\/strong>, East Point<\/strong>, Forest Park<\/strong>, Riverdale<\/strong>, College Park<\/strong>, Morrow<\/strong>, Hapeville<\/strong>, Avondale Estates<\/strong>, and Lake City<\/strong>. Other affected locations are Grant Park-Zoo Atlanta<\/strong>, Candler-McAfee<\/strong>, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport<\/strong>, Belvedere Park<\/strong>, Druid Hills<\/strong>, Conley<\/strong>, Gresham Park<\/strong>, Fort Gillem<\/strong>, and Lakewood Park<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In parts of the city, the flooding quickly became dangerous. Atlanta police<\/strong> reported that multiple drivers had to be rescued from high water on Metropolitan Parkway<\/strong>, where several vehicles were stranded by rising floodwaters.<\/p>\n The FAA<\/strong> confirmed delays of 30 minutes or more<\/strong> at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport<\/strong> as storms continued to affect takeoffs and landings Friday evening. Passengers were urged to check with their airlines for the latest updates.<\/p>\n While the weekend is expected to bring some relief from rain<\/strong>, concerns remain ahead of MLB All-Star Week<\/strong> festivities at Truist Park<\/strong>.
