Saturday, July 13, 2025 \u2013 SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN<\/strong> \u2013 The National Weather Service<\/strong> has issued severe thunderstorm warnings<\/strong> for a wide stretch of southeast Michigan<\/strong>, with alerts remaining in effect through 2:30 p.m. local time<\/strong>. Areas under warning include Detroit<\/strong>, Dearborn<\/strong>, Birmingham<\/strong>, Southfield<\/strong>, Sterling Heights<\/strong>, Warren<\/strong>, St. Clair Shores<\/strong>, Taylor<\/strong>, Utica<\/strong>, Ecorse<\/strong>, Fraser<\/strong>, Garden City<\/strong>, and the Grosse Pointes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Forecasters say storms moving across the metro area could bring damaging wind gusts as high as 60 miles per hour<\/strong> and pea-sized hail<\/strong>, raising the risk of power outages<\/strong> and tree damage<\/strong> in several neighborhoods. The storm system has been tracking quickly across the region and could intensify through the early afternoon.<\/p>\n In the northern portions of Oakland<\/strong> and Macomb counties<\/strong>, including Auburn Hills<\/strong>, Rochester Hills<\/strong>, Romeo<\/strong>, and New Haven<\/strong>, the weather service is forecasting winds up to 55 mph<\/strong>, though hail is not expected<\/strong> in those areas.<\/p>\n Further south and east, in eastern Monroe County<\/strong>, communities like Monroe<\/strong>, Carleton<\/strong>, Temperance<\/strong>, and Estral Beach<\/strong> are expected to experience gusts up to 50 mph<\/strong>, with pea-sized hail<\/strong> possible. That system is expected to move through by around 1:30 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n Earlier in the afternoon, storms were reported over parts of Wixom<\/strong>, Novi<\/strong>, and Farmington Hills<\/strong> in Oakland County<\/strong>, as well as Adrian<\/strong> and Tecumseh<\/strong> in Lenawee County<\/strong>, with radar showing fast-moving cells heading northeast.<\/p>\n To the north, the National Weather Service<\/strong> has issued a small craft advisory<\/strong> for Saginaw Bay<\/strong> on Lake Huron<\/strong>, effective from noon until 10 p.m. Saturday<\/strong>. Winds out of the southwest<\/strong> are forecast to reach 15 to 20 knots<\/strong>, creating waves between two and four feet<\/strong>, with isolated wave heights up to five feet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In addition to the storms, much of southeast Michigan<\/strong> is dealing with intense summer heat<\/strong>.
