Macon, Ga.<\/strong> \u2014 The National Weather Service in Peachtree City<\/strong> has issued a heat advisory<\/strong> for much of Middle Georgia<\/strong>, in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. EDT<\/strong> today. With the heat index<\/strong> expected to reach up to 105\u00b0F (40.5\u00b0C)<\/strong>, forecasters are warning that the combination of intense heat and high humidity<\/strong> could create dangerous conditions<\/strong> for anyone outdoors.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The advisory covers a wide area, including cities like Macon<\/strong>, Warner Robins<\/strong>, Dublin<\/strong>, Swainsboro<\/strong>, Milledgeville<\/strong>, Cordele<\/strong>, Gray<\/strong>, and Thomaston<\/strong>, where residents will feel the full brunt of this midsummer heat wave.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cHot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses,<\/strong>\u201d the NWS warned early Monday. The risk is especially high for children<\/strong>, the elderly<\/strong>, and those working outside<\/strong> or without access to air conditioning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The heat index<\/strong>, which measures how hot it feels when humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature, is projected to soar well into the triple digits.
