ORLANDO, Fla. \u2014 July 13, 2025<\/strong> \u2014 A series of powerful thunderstorms<\/strong> rolled across Central Florida<\/strong> on Sunday afternoon, prompting multiple severe thunderstorm warnings<\/strong> for Seminole<\/strong> and Volusia counties<\/strong>, which remained in effect into the early hours of Monday before expiring around 12:15 a.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n The first warning was issued shortly after 2:00 p.m.<\/strong>, when a severe thunderstorm<\/strong> was spotted near Lake Jesup<\/strong>, moving east at about 20 mph<\/strong>. According to the National Weather Service<\/strong>, the storm was packing wind gusts up to 60 mph<\/strong> and posed a threat to several populated areas including Sanford<\/strong>, Oviedo<\/strong>, Winter Springs<\/strong>, Lake Mary<\/strong>, and Longwood<\/strong>. That warning remained active until 2:45 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n Residents across Seminole County<\/strong> experienced fast-moving squalls, frequent lightning<\/strong>, and bursts of damaging winds<\/strong> strong enough to bring down tree limbs<\/strong> and damage roofing<\/strong> and siding<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Just before 2:45 p.m.<\/strong>, a separate warning was issued for parts of northwestern Brevard County<\/strong> and southeastern Volusia County<\/strong>, including areas near Oak Hill<\/strong> and Apollo Beach<\/strong>. The storm in that region was moving slowly south at around 10 mph<\/strong>, but was no less dangerous\u2014bringing with it wind gusts up to 60 mph<\/strong> and hail the size of quarters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The warning remained in effect until 3:30 p.m.<\/strong>, as the storm continued to batter the coastal corridor with strong winds<\/strong>, intense rainfall<\/strong>, and hail<\/strong> capable of denting cars and damaging windows.<\/p>\n Later in the evening, another round of thunderstorms triggered a fresh warning<\/strong> for both Seminole<\/strong> and Volusia counties<\/strong>, lasting until 12:15 a.m. Monday<\/strong>.
