If this pattern continues, southern Louisiana<\/strong>, especially areas near New Orleans<\/strong>, Houma<\/strong>, Baton Rouge<\/strong>, and Lafayette<\/strong>, may begin experiencing direct impacts from the system by the end of the week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The National Hurricane Center (NHC)<\/strong> has recently updated its forecast for this disturbed weather system<\/strong>, now designated as Invest 93L<\/strong>. The probability of development<\/strong> into a tropical cyclone over the next 48 hours<\/strong> is set at 40%<\/strong>, a figure that holds steady over the full seven-day outlook<\/strong>. The right panel<\/strong>, illustrating a worst-case rainfall outlook<\/strong>, indicates the possibility of localized totals exceeding 8 inches (over 200 mm)<\/strong> in isolated pockets.<\/p>\n Further west along Interstate 10<\/strong>, cities like Lafayette<\/strong> and Lake Charles<\/strong> will likely remain dry until Thursday<\/strong>, when the leading edge of moisture<\/strong> begins pushing inland.
