DENVER<\/strong> \u2014 After yet another hot summer day<\/strong> in the Mile High City<\/strong>, big weather changes are on the way. A cold front<\/strong> will sweep across Colorado<\/strong> late Tuesday night into Wednesday<\/strong>, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures<\/strong>, widespread rain<\/strong>, and the threat of severe storms<\/strong>, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n It was the 21st day this year<\/strong> with highs hitting at least 90\u00b0F (32\u00b0C)<\/strong> in Denver<\/strong>, but that streak will pause midweek. According to Denver7 Chief Meteorologist Lisa Hidalgo<\/strong>, temperatures will start off around 61\u00b0F (16\u00b0C)<\/strong> early Wednesday, with more clouds<\/strong> and a chance for light showers<\/strong> in the morning.<\/p>\n \u201cOvernight, we\u2019ll be tracking a cold front, and that\u2019s going to bring down our temperatures quite a bit tomorrow,\u201d Hidalgo said Tuesday evening. \u201cWe could wake up to sprinkles in the metro, and it\u2019ll feel noticeably cooler by sunrise.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/p>\n Storm chances increase through the day<\/strong><\/p>\n By the afternoon, conditions across the Denver metro area<\/strong> will grow more unstable. Scattered showers and thunderstorms<\/strong> are expected to develop, and some could become strong to severe<\/strong>, especially along the I-25 corridor<\/strong> and into the nearby Foothills<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe better chance for wet weather moves closer to Denver Wednesday afternoon and evening,\u201d Hidalgo said. \u201cSome storms could bring heavy rain<\/strong>, gusty winds<\/strong>, and quick temperature drops<\/strong> into the 60s (15\u201320\u00b0C) by the evening commute.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n In their morning briefing, forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Boulder<\/strong> described the pattern as \u201cintriguing,\u201d noting a cold front and upper-level disturbance<\/strong> will combine to bring widespread precipitation<\/strong> and a brief cool down<\/strong> through Wednesday and Thursday<\/strong>. Localized heavy rainfall<\/strong> is possible.<\/p>\n As of early Tuesday, no official watches or warnings<\/strong> had been issued, but meteorologists at Denver7<\/strong> have declared a Weather Action Day<\/strong> for Wednesday to account for the increased risk of disruptive weather<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Cooling trend continues into Thursday<\/strong><\/p>\n After Tuesday\u2019s heat, highs on Wednesday will top out near 82\u00b0F (28\u00b0C)<\/strong> before falling behind the front.
