West Michigan<\/strong> is currently under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch<\/strong> until midnight<\/strong>, as a powerful line of storms<\/strong> continues moving eastward from Illinois<\/strong> and Wisconsin<\/strong>, threatening several parts of the region throughout Wednesday evening<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The FOX 17 Weather Ready team<\/strong> has issued an official WEATHER READY ALERT<\/strong> for this evening, anticipating that strong thunderstorms<\/strong> will begin impacting southern West Michigan<\/strong> around 7:00 p.m.<\/strong>, and advance into northern areas<\/strong> by approximately 8:00 p.m.<\/strong> These storms are being tracked closely as they could bring intense downpours<\/strong> and damaging wind gusts<\/strong>, especially to regions west of U.S.-131<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The Severe Thunderstorm Watch<\/strong> remains in effect for Allegan<\/strong>, Barry<\/strong>, and Eaton<\/strong> counties, as well as other areas located south<\/strong> of that line. These counties are currently facing a \u201cSlight Risk\u201d<\/strong> (2 out of 5) for severe weather<\/strong>, meaning the potential for hazardous conditions<\/strong> is notably elevated. The rest of West Michigan<\/strong> is under a Marginal Risk<\/strong> (1 out of 5), which still suggests a chance of isolated strong storms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The primary concerns<\/strong> this evening are damaging wind speeds<\/strong> and localized flash flooding<\/strong> due to heavy rainfall<\/strong>. Winds could reach up to 60 mph<\/strong>, and rainfall totals may accumulate rapidly, particularly under slower-moving cells. While hail<\/strong> and isolated tornadoes<\/strong> are not currently the main threats, they cannot be fully ruled out in more unstable pockets of the atmosphere.<\/p>\n Current radar projections show most of the storm activity winding down<\/strong> near midnight<\/strong>, as the frontal system moves eastward and loses energy.
