CHICAGO<\/strong> \u2014 After a brief lull, severe weather<\/strong> is poised to make a return across Chicagoland<\/strong> this Saturday morning<\/strong>, marking a muggy and unsettled start<\/strong> to the weekend. A slow-moving storm system<\/strong>, creeping in from the west, is forecast to bring strong thunderstorms<\/strong>, gusty winds<\/strong>, and the possibility of hail<\/strong> to much of the Chicago metro area<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Currently, the National Weather Service<\/strong> has placed the entire region under a Level 2 out of 5 \u2013 a slight risk<\/strong> \u2013 for severe thunderstorms<\/strong>, which, despite being on the lower end of the scale, still brings meaningful risk<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The main window for potentially severe conditions<\/strong> extends from around 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (local time)<\/strong>, though showers and storms<\/strong> could develop earlier<\/strong>, especially in the predawn hours<\/strong>. As the system gradually moves east<\/strong>, it\u2019s expected to fully enter Chicagoland<\/strong> during the mid-morning<\/strong> timeframe.<\/p>\n Throughout the morning and into early afternoon, expect heavy downpours<\/strong>, frequent lightning<\/strong>, and strong wind gusts<\/strong>, which could lead to localized damage<\/strong>. Hail<\/strong> is also possible in some isolated pockets<\/strong> of the storm line. The system\u2019s slow progression<\/strong> means the region may remain under stormy skies<\/strong> into the early afternoon<\/strong>, particularly areas stretching toward northwest Indiana<\/strong>.<\/p>\n While the most intense storm activity<\/strong> should clear the Chicago area<\/strong> by mid to late afternoon<\/strong>, lingering instability<\/strong> could allow for additional storms<\/strong> to pop up through Saturday evening<\/strong>.
