Strong thunderstorms expected across southern Ontario this Saturday<\/strong><\/p>\n Saturday, July 19, 2025 \u2013 New York, 3:10 AM (EDT)<\/strong> \u2014 Southern Ontario<\/strong> is bracing for the return of severe weather<\/strong> as a low-pressure system<\/strong> pushes into the Great Lakes<\/strong> this Saturday. After a couple of days of pleasant, less humid conditions<\/strong>, the atmosphere is setting the stage for a stormy weekend<\/strong>, with strong wind gusts<\/strong> and intense downpours<\/strong> being the primary threats.<\/p>\n A shift in the pattern<\/strong> will begin early Saturday<\/strong>, as warmer air surges northward along a warm front<\/strong>, bringing temperatures<\/strong> close to 86\u00b0F (30\u00b0C)<\/strong> in several areas. As this unstable air mass builds, it will create the ideal environment for scattered storms<\/strong>, especially through central Ontario<\/strong> during the earlier part of the day.<\/p>\n By the afternoon<\/strong>, thunderstorms<\/strong> are forecast to develop south of the border<\/strong> and begin pushing northward<\/strong> toward southern Ontario<\/strong>. These storms could organize into a line of severe weather<\/strong>, reaching areas along the Lake Huron<\/strong> and Georgian Bay<\/strong> shorelines by late Saturday afternoon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n From Muskoka to Sarnia<\/strong>, conditions could become dangerous<\/strong> by late afternoon or early evening<\/strong>, with the risk of damaging wind gusts<\/strong>, torrential rainfall<\/strong>, and hail of significant size<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thunderstorm activity Saturday evening<\/strong><\/p>\n The Greater Toronto Area (GTA)<\/strong> may begin to see storm activity<\/strong> by late evening or into the overnight hours<\/strong>. However, there\u2019s still some uncertainty about how intense these storms will remain by the time they reach the urban corridor.
