ANN ARBOR, Michigan<\/strong> \u2014 The Ann Arbor Art Fair 2025<\/strong> was cut short on Saturday, July 19<\/strong>, as severe weather<\/strong> prompted organizers to shut down operations three hours early<\/strong>, at 5 p.m.<\/strong>, out of what they described as “an abundance of caution<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Forecasts from the National Weather Service<\/strong> had already warned of strong afternoon and evening thunderstorms<\/strong> expected to sweep through Southeast Michigan<\/strong>, including Washtenaw County<\/strong>. The system was projected to bring hail<\/strong> and damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph<\/strong>, raising concerns for both safety and logistics. A \u201chazardous weather outlook\u201d<\/strong> was in effect for multiple counties across the region.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Originally scheduled to wrap up at 8 p.m.<\/strong>, Saturday marked the final day<\/strong> of this year\u2019s Ann Arbor Art Fair<\/strong>, which began on Thursday, July 17<\/strong>. Despite the abrupt closure, the event still welcomed hundreds of thousands<\/strong> of visitors across its three-day run.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Known as the largest juried art fair in the country<\/strong>, the Ann Arbor Art Fair<\/strong> covers 30 city blocks<\/strong> in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor<\/strong>. It combines three distinct fairs \u2014 the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, The Original<\/strong>, The Guild\u2019s Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair<\/strong>, and the Ann Arbor State Street District Art Fair<\/strong> \u2014 into one massive celebration of creativity and community.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Nearly 1,000 artists<\/strong> took part this year, drawing an estimated 400,000 attendees<\/strong> to Maynard Street<\/strong> and surrounding areas, even as the weather shifted from sun-drenched<\/strong> to storm-threatening<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The storm threat follows a stretch of warm, humid conditions<\/strong>, with temperatures hovering in the low 80s Fahrenheit (around 27\u00b0C)<\/strong> through much of the fair.
