Ohio<\/strong> is staring down a weather divide<\/strong> this Fall 2025<\/strong>, as two of the most followed forecasts<\/strong> in the country couldn\u2019t be more different. The Old Farmer\u2019s Almanac<\/strong> and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)<\/strong> have released their seasonal projections\u2014and they don\u2019t match up<\/strong> at all.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to the Old Farmer\u2019s Almanac<\/strong>, Ohio<\/strong> is heading into a cooler, drier<\/strong> autumn. Their forecast suggests lower-than-normal temperatures<\/strong> and below-average rainfall<\/strong> for much of the state. That prediction extends directly into Stark County<\/strong>, where the Almanac expects average early fall temperatures<\/strong> in September<\/strong>, followed by cooler weather<\/strong> in October<\/strong>, paired with scarce precipitation<\/strong>. In contrast, much of the West<\/strong>\u2014from the Pacific Northwest<\/strong> through Texas and Oklahoma<\/strong>\u2014is expected to experience milder, warmer conditions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Almanac adds that this cool and crisp setup<\/strong> could mean vibrant fall foliage<\/strong> for the Northeast<\/strong> and Ohio Valley<\/strong>, especially with \u201cscattered showers, occasional warm spells<\/strong>, and an overall chilly atmosphere<\/strong>.\u201d If you’re in or around Akron-Canton<\/strong>, expect a typical start with September averages<\/strong> hovering around 65.4\u00b0F (18.6\u00b0C)<\/strong>, followed by a clear drop into October<\/strong> with 53.7\u00b0F (12.1\u00b0C)<\/strong>, then 42.5\u00b0F (5.8\u00b0C)<\/strong> in November<\/strong>, and 33\u00b0F (0.5\u00b0C)<\/strong> in December<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n But the NOAA<\/strong> is painting a very different picture<\/strong>. Their latest seasonal outlook assigns a 40% to 50% chance<\/strong> of above-average temperatures<\/strong> across most of Ohio<\/strong> from September through November<\/strong>. In certain central pockets, the probability slightly lowers to 33% to 40%<\/strong>, but still leans warm. On the precipitation front<\/strong>, NOAA sees a 33% to 40% probability<\/strong> of above-normal rainfall<\/strong> state-wide\u2014clearly diverging from the Almanac\u2019s dry prediction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n So, whether you’re preparing for a sweater season<\/strong> or still expecting to run the AC<\/strong>, it all depends on which outlook you trust.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The first official day of fall<\/strong> lands on Monday, September 22<\/strong>, bringing with it more than just cooler breezes\u2014perhaps a forecast face-off<\/strong> that will play out in real time.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In terms of average rainfall<\/strong>, the Akron-Canton region<\/strong> usually logs about 3.5 inches (8.9 cm)<\/strong> in September<\/strong>, 3.34 inches (8.5 cm)<\/strong> in October<\/strong>, 3.08 inches (7.8 cm)<\/strong> in November<\/strong>, and 2.89 inches (7.3 cm)<\/strong> by December<\/strong>. If the Almanac<\/strong> is right, those totals might dip this year; if NOAA<\/strong> is on target, the region could be soggier than usual<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Outside of Ohio<\/strong>, the Old Farmer\u2019s Almanac<\/strong> anticipates above-average heat<\/strong> in regions like the Atlantic Corridor<\/strong>, Southeast<\/strong>, Florida<\/strong>, the Deep South<\/strong>, Heartland<\/strong>, and Alaska<\/strong>, while cooler air<\/strong> is expected to settle over the Northeast<\/strong>, the Appalachians<\/strong>, the Ohio Valley<\/strong>, the Upper Midwest<\/strong>, and even as far as Hawaii<\/strong> and parts of the Desert Southwest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Ohio is staring down a weather divide this Fall 2025, as two of the most followed forecasts in the country couldn\u2019t be more different.
