The latest forecast from <strong>FOX Weather Meteorologist Craig Herrera<\/strong> outlines the evolving threats.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Invest 94L forms in Atlantic as development window narrows<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A new tropical disturbance, officially named <strong>Invest 94L<\/strong>, has emerged in the <strong>Main Development Region<\/strong> between <strong>Africa<\/strong> and the <strong>Caribbean Islands<\/strong>. The <strong>National Hurricane Center<\/strong> raised its odds of development from 10% to <strong>20%<\/strong> following increased organization late <strong>Sunday<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The disturbance is expected to <strong>briefly strengthen<\/strong> over the next couple of days, although it will likely face <strong>unfavorable conditions<\/strong> by midweek. <strong>Invest 94L<\/strong> currently poses no imminent threat to the <strong>United States<\/strong>, but it will be closely monitored as it moves across the <strong>central tropical Atlantic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cold front set to soak Gulf Coast and Florida<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A <strong>stationary front<\/strong> will become a <strong>flooding threat<\/strong> as it settles over the <strong>Gulf Coast<\/strong> and <strong>Florida Panhandle<\/strong> beginning <strong>Tuesday<\/strong>. The interaction between the front and <strong>tropical moisture<\/strong> will trigger <strong>downpours<\/strong> along the <strong>Interstate 10 corridor<\/strong>, stretching from <strong>Tallahassee<\/strong> to <strong>New Orleans<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Forecast models suggest <strong>2 to 3 inches<\/strong> of rainfall (around <strong>50 to 75 mm<\/strong>) across large portions of the <strong>northern Gulf Coast<\/strong>, with localized pockets possibly exceeding that. The flood risk will persist through <strong>Saturday<\/strong>, July 26.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Flash Flood Emergency declared in Illinois after weekend storms slam Midwest and Northeast<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Over <strong>76 million Americans<\/strong> faced <strong>severe storms<\/strong> Sunday as strong systems swept from the <strong>Northeast<\/strong> through the <strong>Midwest<\/strong>. The most extreme impacts were felt in <strong>Fayette County, Illinois<\/strong>, where more than <strong>7 inches<\/strong> of rain (about <strong>178 mm<\/strong>) fell in just 24 hours, ending early <strong>Monday morning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>National Weather Service office in St. Louis<\/strong> issued a <strong>Flash Flood Emergency<\/strong> late Sunday, as creeks and rivers rapidly overflowed. Flood alerts remained in effect through early <strong>Monday<\/strong>, with <strong>major road closures<\/strong> and <strong>rescue operations<\/strong> ongoing in affected areas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grand Canyon wildfire destroys historic structures<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Dragon Bravo Fire<\/strong>, burning along the <strong>north rim<\/strong> of <strong>Grand Canyon National Park<\/strong>, continues to grow more intense. The fire, which ignited on <strong>July 12<\/strong>, has now spread beyond <strong>500 acres<\/strong>, fueled by dry conditions and rugged terrain.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities with the <strong>National Park Service<\/strong> have confirmed the <strong>destruction of the Grand Canyon Lodge<\/strong> and several other <strong>historic cabins<\/strong>, marking a devastating loss to the park&#8217;s cultural heritage.
