A <strong>weak low-pressure system<\/strong> helped bring in <strong>patchy clouds<\/strong>, but not enough to cool things down in a significant way.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As of <strong>today, Monday, July 21<\/strong>, <strong>weather patterns are shifting<\/strong>, and the upcoming week is shaping up to be <strong>hotter and drier<\/strong>, thanks to a <strong>building high-pressure system<\/strong> pressing in from the west. That system is forecast to <strong>dominate the region<\/strong> through Thursday, before a <strong>potential tropical disturbance<\/strong> in the <strong>Gulf of Mexico<\/strong> becomes the next weather wildcard by the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday<\/strong> begins with <strong>clouds blanketing parts of South Texas<\/strong>, keeping <strong>morning lows in the mid-70s\u00b0F<\/strong> (24\u00b0C). Skies will clear by the afternoon, allowing <strong>temperatures in San Antonio<\/strong> to climb close to <strong>98\u00b0F<\/strong> (37\u00b0C), which is <strong>a few degrees above average<\/strong> for this time of year. With <strong>humidity factored in<\/strong>, it\u2019ll feel more like <strong>102 to 105\u00b0F<\/strong> (39\u201341\u00b0C), especially during <strong>late afternoon hours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>Tuesday<\/strong>, the <strong>ridge of high pressure<\/strong> will strengthen, pushing <strong>temperatures even higher<\/strong>. Early morning lows will sit between <strong>75 and 78\u00b0F<\/strong> (24\u201326\u00b0C), with afternoon highs expected to land in the <strong>upper 90s\u00b0F<\/strong> (37\u00b0C). <strong>Some neighborhoods<\/strong>, especially on the <strong>south side of San Antonio<\/strong> and in <strong>rural areas to the southwest<\/strong>, may see their <strong>first triple-digit temperatures<\/strong> since late <strong>May<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>UV levels<\/strong> will spike as well, reaching <strong>extreme values between 11 and 12<\/strong> during early afternoon hours, increasing the risk of <strong>skin damage<\/strong> in less than 10 minutes if unprotected.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By <strong>Wednesday and Thursday<\/strong>, the weather will follow a <strong>similar trend<\/strong>, with <strong>intense heat<\/strong> and highs hovering around <strong>97 to 99\u00b0F<\/strong> (36\u201337\u00b0C). The <strong>dry spell<\/strong> continues, and skies will stay mostly <strong>sunny<\/strong> and <strong>clear<\/strong>, driven by the overhead high-pressure system.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But all eyes shift to the <strong>Gulf of Mexico<\/strong> by <strong>Friday and the weekend<\/strong>. A <strong>tropical disturbance<\/strong> could begin to <strong>take shape<\/strong>, although models remain <strong>uncertain<\/strong> about how organized it might become. If a <strong>low-pressure center<\/strong> does form, it will have only a <strong>short window<\/strong> to develop into anything stronger before possibly impacting the <strong>Texas coast<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Right now, <strong>moisture from the Gulf<\/strong> could increase <strong>shower and thunderstorm chances<\/strong> along the <strong>Texas coastline<\/strong>, including areas near <strong>Corpus Christi<\/strong> and <strong>Galveston<\/strong>, by <strong>late Friday into Saturday<\/strong>.
