Early wildfire smoke<\/strong> from Canada<\/strong> drifted into Southeast Wisconsin<\/strong> overnight, leaving a thin haze<\/strong> across much of the region by sunrise. The air quality<\/strong> briefly dropped this morning, but as winds shift from the north<\/strong> to the east<\/strong>, most of the smoke<\/strong> will dissipate<\/strong> during the afternoon and evening<\/strong>. Thanks to a strong dome of high pressure<\/strong>, the sky stays bright and mostly cloud-free<\/strong> throughout the day. Afternoon highs<\/strong> will climb into the mid to upper 70s<\/strong> (75\u201382\u00b0F<\/strong>, or 24\u201328\u00b0C<\/strong>), with cooler conditions<\/strong> near the lakefront<\/strong> and warmer inland air<\/strong> away from Lake Michigan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Looking ahead, spotty thunderstorms<\/strong> could emerge across parts of the Midwest<\/strong> over the coming days. Weather models<\/strong> indicate a storm complex<\/strong> may take shape later tonight over Minnesota<\/strong>. It remains unclear how far east that system will travel, but there is a slight chance<\/strong> that southern Wisconsin<\/strong> could see showers or rumbles of thunder<\/strong> by Tuesday<\/strong>. Most of the day still appears dry<\/strong>, with temperatures rising to 80\u00b0F (27\u00b0C)<\/strong> along the shoreline<\/strong> and up to 86\u00b0F (30\u00b0C)<\/strong> inland.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By midweek<\/strong>, heat and humidity<\/strong> make a strong comeback. Wednesday\u2019s highs<\/strong> are expected to soar to around 93\u00b0F (34\u00b0C)<\/strong>, with dew points<\/strong> in the upper 60s and low 70s<\/strong>, pushing heat index values<\/strong> to over 100\u00b0F (38\u00b0C)<\/strong>. That oppressive air mass<\/strong> will linger through Thursday<\/strong>, before a slow-moving cold front<\/strong> arrives from the northwest<\/strong>, stirring up scattered thunderstorms<\/strong> late in the day.
