Friday, July 25<\/strong>, is shaping up to be a dangerous weather day<\/strong> across the Philadelphia region<\/strong>, as severe storms<\/strong> and oppressive heat<\/strong> converge in what\u2019s expected to be a volatile afternoon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The day kicked off under humid skies<\/strong> and bright sunshine<\/strong>, but by Noon<\/strong>, the First Alert<\/strong> went into effect \u2014 and it\u2019s expected to stay active until 9 p.m.<\/strong> as conditions take a sharp turn.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Forecasters expect strong thunderstorms<\/strong> to begin developing around 4 p.m.<\/strong>, sweeping from the northwest<\/strong> to the southeast<\/strong>. These storms could pack damaging wind gusts<\/strong> and cause localized flash flooding<\/strong>, especially in low-lying areas<\/strong> and urban streets<\/strong> of Philadelphia<\/strong>, Montgomery<\/strong>, and Delaware Counties<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Simultaneously, an excessive heat warning<\/strong> remains in effect, with temperatures climbing into the upper 90s Fahrenheit (around 36\u201337\u00b0C)<\/strong>.
