GILLETT, Wisconsin<\/strong> \u2013 A powerful wave of severe weather<\/strong> slammed into Oconto County<\/strong> Wednesday evening, leaving behind a trail of wreckage<\/strong> across the Gillett<\/strong> area. According to the National Weather Service<\/strong>, a tornado<\/strong> touched down around 5:30 PM<\/strong>, shattering structures and littering Highway 22<\/strong> with debris.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Early this Thursday morning<\/strong>, the FOX 11 Storm Chaser<\/strong> was on site surveying the extensive damage<\/strong>, with one of the hardest-hit locations being Telford Equipment Consulting<\/strong>, where part of a building<\/strong> was blown clean off.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Emergency management director Jon Spice<\/strong> praised the rapid response of first responders<\/strong>, who arrived swiftly on the scene. No injuries<\/strong> have been reported so far. \u201cWe were definitely lucky<\/strong>,\u201d said Spice. \u201cIt could have been much worse. Some areas west of us may have taken a harder hit.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In response to the storm’s impact and the ongoing power outages<\/strong> throughout Northeast Wisconsin<\/strong>, Spice confirmed that plans are underway to set up a cooling shelter<\/strong> where residents can escape the heat and recharge devices<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Meanwhile, the National Weather Service<\/strong> also confirmed reports of a tornado south of Clintonville<\/strong>, located in Waupaca County<\/strong>. Officials will be in the field today<\/strong> conducting a full damage assessment<\/strong> and working to verify the tornado\u2019s intensity.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The violent Wednesday storms<\/strong> have now pushed the region into Storm Watch<\/strong> again for Thursday afternoon<\/strong>, with more scattered thunderstorms<\/strong> expected.
