Millions across the United States<\/strong> are still battling the relentless summer heat<\/strong>, and now eyes are turning toward fall 2025<\/strong>. According to the latest long-range outlook from The Old Farmer\u2019s Almanac<\/strong>, warmer-than-average conditions<\/strong> are expected to dominate this year’s autumn<\/strong>, particularly across much of the Western<\/strong> and Southern United States<\/strong>. The publication, which has been forecasting the weather since 1792<\/strong>, released its fall projections on July 11, 2025<\/strong>, and is warning that fans and air conditioners<\/strong> might be needed longer than usual.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Old Farmer\u2019s Almanac<\/strong> blends solar cycles<\/strong>, meteorology<\/strong>, and climatology<\/strong> to develop its seasonal forecasts. For this fall<\/strong>, it predicts above-normal temperatures<\/strong> across a large portion of the country \u2014 especially in the Atlantic Corridor<\/strong>, Florida<\/strong>, Southeast<\/strong>, Deep South<\/strong>, Heartland<\/strong>, Texas-Oklahoma<\/strong>, High Plains<\/strong>, Intermountain West<\/strong>, Pacific Northwest<\/strong>, Pacific Southwest<\/strong>, and even Alaska<\/strong>. The traditional pumpkin patch experience<\/strong> may feel more like a late-summer scorcher<\/strong> than a crisp autumn outing.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In addition to the heat, much of the U.S.<\/strong> is expected to experience below-average precipitation<\/strong>, stretching from California<\/strong> across to Florida<\/strong> and all the way up through Maine<\/strong>. However, regions such as the High Plains<\/strong> and Pacific Northwest<\/strong> could defy this trend with slightly wetter conditions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Not all parts of the country will feel the same effects. A different pattern is taking shape in the Northeast<\/strong>, Appalachians<\/strong>, Ohio Valley<\/strong>, Upper Midwest<\/strong>, and Lower Great Lakes<\/strong>. According to Fox News<\/strong>, citing the same Almanac data, these regions will likely see cooler<\/strong> and drier<\/strong> weather, perfect for those hoping to enjoy a vibrant and early leaf-peeping season<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In New England<\/strong>, average temperatures are projected to settle around 59\u00b0F (15\u00b0C)<\/strong> in September<\/strong> and drop to 46\u00b0F (8\u00b0C)<\/strong> by October<\/strong>. In the Appalachian Mountains<\/strong>, the same months may see respective averages of 65\u00b0F (18\u00b0C)<\/strong> and 53\u00b0F (12\u00b0C)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Southeast<\/strong> and Florida<\/strong> are forecasted to stay hot and dry<\/strong>, with September temperatures<\/strong> hovering between 78\u00b0F and 82\u00b0F (26\u00b0C\u201328\u00b0C)<\/strong> \u2014 higher than seasonal norms. Meanwhile, the Pacific Northwest<\/strong> is predicted to be warmer overall<\/strong>, but October<\/strong> may bring some increased rainfall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Although fall is on the horizon, the Atlantic hurricane season<\/strong> remains in full swing. The Old Farmer\u2019s Almanac<\/strong> has flagged the possibility of above-normal tropical activity<\/strong> continuing through November<\/strong>, with a high number of named storms<\/strong> still expected to develop.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n However, not all meteorologists agree with the Almanac. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)<\/strong> is forecasting a warmer-than-average fall<\/strong> in the Northeast<\/strong>, diverging from the Almanac\u2019s projection of cooler conditions<\/strong>. This difference is attributed in part to elevated Atlantic Ocean temperatures<\/strong>, which can influence regional warmth well into autumn.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On the rainfall front<\/strong>, both NOAA and the Almanac agree that the Southern Plains<\/strong> and Rockies<\/strong> will remain drier than usual<\/strong>, but they split on predictions for the Northern Plains<\/strong>.
