CLEVELAND<\/strong> \u2013 This Friday evening<\/strong> in Northeast Ohio<\/strong> is shaping up to be partly to mostly cloudy<\/strong>, with warm<\/strong> and humid<\/strong> conditions holding strong. While the atmosphere will be mostly stable for now, a few isolated showers<\/strong> or a lone thunderstorm<\/strong> might pass through overnight<\/strong>, keeping the night slightly unsettled.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Temperatures tonight<\/strong> will remain on the mild side<\/strong>, dropping only to the low 70s Fahrenheit (around 21\u201322\u00b0C)<\/strong>. The mugginess<\/strong> is sticking around, making for a sticky and warm<\/strong> start to the weekend<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Heading into Saturday<\/strong>, the day will begin mostly dry<\/strong>, but don\u2019t be fooled\u2014rain chances<\/strong> and storm coverage<\/strong> will increase notably<\/strong> during the afternoon and evening hours<\/strong>. A slow-moving cold front<\/strong>, swaying north and south across the region, will ignite strong downpours<\/strong> and thunderstorms<\/strong>, especially as daytime heating<\/strong> builds. Some localized rain totals<\/strong> could reach 1 to 2 inches (25\u201350 mm)<\/strong> in spots hit hardest by the storm cells.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The main risks<\/strong> Saturday include brief flooding<\/strong> from heavy rain<\/strong> and gusty winds<\/strong>, especially where storms linger<\/strong>. Despite clouds and rain helping keep temperatures in check<\/strong> temporarily, there will be no break from the oppressive humidity<\/strong>. The damp, tropical air<\/strong> is here to stay not only through the weekend, but likely into the early days of next week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n As we look toward Sunday and Monday<\/strong>, more scattered storms<\/strong> and downpours<\/strong> are expected to track from northwest to southeast<\/strong> along that same frontal boundary<\/strong>. Monday may bring a surge of heat<\/strong>, with afternoon highs near 90\u00b0F (32\u00b0C)<\/strong>. Factor in the high dew points<\/strong>, and the heat index<\/strong> could climb to around 100\u00b0F (38\u00b0C)<\/strong> during peak hours.
