On the same date in 1900<\/strong>, Akron-Canton<\/strong> was drenched with 2.3 inches (58 mm)<\/strong> of rain.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n July 26<\/strong>, on a stormy 2005 day<\/strong>, violent thunderstorms<\/strong> rolled in from Lake Erie<\/strong> with winds topping 70 mph<\/strong>. That same day in 1934<\/strong>, Mansfield<\/strong> hit another triple-digit scorcher<\/strong>: 102\u00b0F (39 \u00b0C)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n July 27<\/strong> of 2003<\/strong> turned deadly when Stark<\/strong> and Summit Counties<\/strong> faced flooding<\/strong> after hours of torrential rain<\/strong>. Damages in Stark County<\/strong> soared to $52 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n One of the most notorious summer events hit on July 28, 1993<\/strong>, now known as the Storm of ’93<\/strong>, when a violent windstorm<\/strong> knocked down thousands of trees<\/strong> across northern Ohio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On July 29<\/strong>, Youngstown<\/strong> hit 101\u00b0F (38 \u00b0C)<\/strong> in 1941<\/strong>, while Akron-Canton<\/strong> dipped to a frosty 47\u00b0F (8 \u00b0C)<\/strong> in 1904<\/strong>, and Erie, Pennsylvania<\/strong>, was hit with 3.25 inches (83 mm)<\/strong> of rain in 1918<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n July 30<\/strong>, Toledo<\/strong> hit a hot 100\u00b0F (38 \u00b0C)<\/strong> in 1916<\/strong>, while Mansfield<\/strong> felt a brisk 45\u00b0F (7 \u00b0C)<\/strong> morning in 1956<\/strong>. That same date in 1942<\/strong>, Toledo<\/strong> soaked up 2.7 inches (69 mm)<\/strong> of rain.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Finally, July 31<\/strong> brings memories of an EF-1 tornado<\/strong> that swept through Wooster<\/strong> in 2009<\/strong>. Erie<\/strong> hit 99\u00b0F (37 \u00b0C)<\/strong> in 1999<\/strong>, and Akron-Canton<\/strong> endured 2.91 inches (74 mm)<\/strong> of rain back in 1958<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Looking at the current forecast<\/strong>, Friday<\/strong> afternoon will see showers and thunderstorms<\/strong> with a high of 87\u00b0F (31 \u00b0C)<\/strong>. Rain is expected to continue into the evening<\/strong>, with the temperature<\/strong> falling to 70\u00b0F (21 \u00b0C)<\/strong> overnight.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Saturday<\/strong> will remain unsettled<\/strong>, with scattered thunderstorms<\/strong> after 2 p.m.<\/strong>, and a high of 88\u00b0F (31 \u00b0C)<\/strong>. Storms may return<\/strong> again after 8 p.m.<\/strong>, as the nighttime low<\/strong> stays warm at 74\u00b0F (23 \u00b0C)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On Sunday<\/strong>, expect periods of showers<\/strong> and a possible thunderstorm<\/strong>, mostly after 2 p.m.<\/strong>, with partly sunny skies<\/strong> and a high near 87\u00b0F (31 \u00b0C)<\/strong>.
