Friday’s weather across Southern Colorado will be defined by clear skies, gentle breezes, and seasonable warmth, setting the stage for a sun-filled Mother’s Day weekend. As a high-pressure system continues to build, temperatures will rise gradually, pushing into above-average territory by Sunday.

Overnight conditions: mild and partly cloudy

Tonight, expect partly cloudy to mostly clear skies with light winds under 10 mph. Low temperatures will hover around the 30s and 40s°F (0° to 7°C), which is seasonable for this time of year.

Forecast for Friday, May 9

Colorado Springs:
Expect a gorgeous day, with highs around 70°F (21°C) and lows near 40°F (4°C). Winds will be from the southeast at 5 mph, with gusts up to 15 mph. Skies will remain partly cloudy, with only a slight chance of an afternoon shower.

 

Pueblo:
Mostly sunny skies dominate the forecast with a high near 73°F (23°C) and a low around 41°F (5°C). Winds will blow lightly from the east.

 

Canon City:
Sunshine will be abundant, with a high of 71°F (22°C) and a low of 43°F (6°C). There’s a small risk of an afternoon shower, with east-southeast winds up to 15 mph.

 

Woodland Park:
Temperatures will stay cooler here, with a low of 34°F (1°C) and a high near 62°F (17°C). Expect partly cloudy skies and a chance of an isolated afternoon thunderstorm. Winds will come from the north-northeast.

 

Tri-Lakes Region:
Forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and mild air, with temperatures ranging from 38°F (3°C) to 67°F (19°C). A brief sprinkle could pop up late in the day.

 

Eastern Plains:
Sun-drenched conditions are expected with highs in the 70s°F (21°–26°C) and lows in the 30s to 40s°F (0°–7°C). Winds from the east or southeast will stay light.

 

Walsenburg and Trinidad:
Forecast shows mostly sunny conditions, comfortable warmth with highs around 66°F (19°C) to 68°F (20°C), and lows near 37°F (3°C). Light southeast winds expected.

 

Mountains:
In the higher elevations, expect partly cloudy skies with occasional rain showers and isolated thunderstorms. Highs will range from the low 60s to low 70s°F (16°–22°C), and lows will dip into the 30s°F (0°–4°C).

Weekend outlook: sunshine and warming trend

This Mother’s Day weekend promises continued sunshine, warmer temperatures, and a dry forecast for the plains. Highs will reach the 70s and 80s°F (21°–27°C) across the lower elevations, while the mountain valleys stay in the 60s to low 70s°F (16°–22°C). Isolated storms may still pop up in the mountains, but most areas will remain dry.
