Friday evening forecast: Stormy conditions ahead
A cold front is moving into Central Florida, ushering in widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms through the late evening and into the early hours of Saturday. Gusty winds, occasional lightning, and intense downpours are expected, with the possibility of small hail in isolated pockets.
The Storm Team has marked Friday and Saturday as IMPACT DAYS, highlighting the potential for severe weather conditions. Overnight lows will remain warm, hovering in the lower to mid 70s Fahrenheit (around 21–24°C), as the front approaches.
Weekend outlook: Cooler temps, scattered showers
By Saturday morning, the cold front will continue its southward progression, pushing through the Orlando area and bringing additional scattered showers and thunderstorms, particularly through midday and early afternoon.
A Marginal Risk for severe weather has been issued south of Orlando, where storms may intensify enough to produce wind gusts near 60 mph and small hail. Cloud cover and precipitation will keep high temperatures slightly lower, topping out in the upper 80s Fahrenheit (around 31°C), while humidity levels begin to ease.
The front is expected to stall over the southern peninsula, maintaining a chance of isolated storms late into Saturday night, especially in southern portions of the metro.
Next week: Stormy start, then summer pattern returns
As Monday arrives, a stronger disturbance is forecast to swing into the region, prompting a broader coverage of showers and thunderstorms across Central Florida. This system will continue the active weather pattern, with wet conditions marking the beginning of the workweek.
Once the upper-level low clears, Tuesday through Friday will shift into a classic Florida summer pattern. Expect onshore flow, afternoon seabreeze-driven storms, and daily storm chances, particularly in the late afternoon hours. Temperatures will return to seasonal norms, peaking near 90°F (about 32°C).
