Heavy rainfall continues across North Texas this Wednesday

North Texas, especially the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, is facing intense rainfall this morning, with a Flood Watch remaining active through Thursday evening. According to the National Weather Service and the FOX 4 Weather team, widespread precipitation will affect nearly all counties in the area, with some zones experiencing localized flooding.

By early morning, moderate to heavy showers have already moved across the Dallas area, accompanied by frequent lightning and brief wind gusts. Despite the energetic nature of these storms, meteorologists do not expect them to reach severe levels.

Rain totals and flooding concerns

The primary threat today is flash flooding. Many neighborhoods in Dallas, Fort Worth, and surrounding suburbs could receive between 1 and 4 inches of rain, with poor drainage areas especially at risk. Creeks, small streams, and urban streets are the most vulnerable.

Wednesday temperatures are forecast to remain in the upper 70s Fahrenheit (around 25 °C), making this a cooler-than-average mid-June day for North Texas.

Thursday outlook: Continued storms, warmer temperatures

As the system lingers, Thursday will also bring additional rounds of rain, possibly extending flooding concerns through the end of the day. However, temperatures will climb slightly, reaching the low 80s Fahrenheit (27–28 °C) in the afternoon hours.

Rain chances remain elevated during the morning and early afternoon before gradually tapering overnight into Friday.

Friday and weekend: Gradual clearing and warming trend

The rain threat decreases on Friday, though scattered showers and isolated storms could still develop, especially during the afternoon. Temperatures will rebound, climbing into the mid-80s Fahrenheit (29–30 °C).

Saturday and Sunday, including Father’s Day, are expected to be mostly dry. A mix of sun and clouds will dominate, and temperatures are projected to rise to the low 90s Fahrenheit (32–33 °C). A slight chance of afternoon rain may persist, but overall, the weekend weather will feel more typical for mid-June in Texas.
