San Francisco sees brief Thursday sun between layers of gray
San Francisco will enjoy its brightest skies of the week on Thursday, although the marine layer remains a stubborn presence. Early morning fog—especially thick west of Twin Peaks—will give way to gradual clearing by late morning, with sunshine most persistent in Potrero Hill, SoMa, and the Mission. Temperatures remain cool, peaking in the low 60s Fahrenheit (16–17 °C) downtown, and dipping to the upper 50s (around 14 °C) in Outer Richmond and Sunset. A west wind of 15–20 mph keeps the air crisp. Overnight clouds will return, with lows falling to the low 50s (10–12 °C).
North Bay warms up under clear skies and gusty winds
In the North Bay, Thursday afternoon will deliver warm sunshine, especially across the valleys. Morning breezes and a cool start give way to temperatures climbing into the upper 70s to low 80s (25–28 °C) in Novato, San Rafael, and Petaluma. Further inland, Vacaville and Fairfield may hit the mid-80s (29 °C), with Santa Rosa touching the upper 80s (31 °C). Coastal zones like Muir Beach and Point Reyes will remain chilly, around the upper 50s to low 60s (14–16 °C). Winds will strengthen midday, with northwest gusts reaching 25 mph. Expect a mostly clear and breezy night, with lows in the upper 40s (8–9 °C) in the valleys and low 50s (10–12 °C) elsewhere.
East Bay brightens as clouds lift, temperatures climb
Morning clouds along the East Bay shoreline will dissipate by midmorning, giving way to broad sunshine. Highs will vary, reaching the low 70s (21–22 °C) in Berkeley and Oakland, mid-70s (24 °C) in Fremont and Hayward, and mid to upper 80s (29–31 °C) in Walnut Creek, Concord, and Livermore. A southwest breeze around 15 to 20 mph will be strongest near the I-80 corridor. Clear skies overnight will lead to lows from the low 50s (10–12 °C) by the Bay to the mid-50s (12–13 °C) farther inland.
Pacific Coast and Peninsula: foggy start, clearer inland
Low clouds and drizzle will blanket the Pacific coast to start the day, especially in Half Moon Bay, Pacifica, and Daly City. Inland, skies will gradually brighten, while the coast stays mostly gray. Highs will hover near 60 °F (15–16 °C) along the coast and rise to the mid-60s (18 °C) in Daly City. Farther east, Redwood City will reach the mid-70s (24 °C). Winds will strengthen by early afternoon, with gusts up to 25 mph near SFO and the ridges. Lows overnight will sink into the low 50s (10–12 °C), with patchy clouds returning late.
South Bay and Santa Cruz enjoy sun and seasonal warmth
Thursday brings sunshine and warmth to the South Bay and Santa Cruz. Mountain View will see highs in the low 70s (22 °C), San Jose in the upper 70s (25–26 °C), and Gilroy topping out in the low 80s (27 °C). Santa Cruz will begin with coastal fog, but sunshine will develop quickly, bringing highs into the mid-70s (24 °C). Nighttime lows will fall to the upper 40s (8–9 °C) near the coast and the low 50s (10–12 °C) farther inland.
