Rain chances are rising across Arkansas this Sunday, especially in the late afternoon and evening hours, after a mostly dry and hot Saturday. While most areas will stay clear this evening, a few isolated thunderstorms may develop around sunset, particularly in southern and central Arkansas. Still, don’t count on rain unless you’re lucky enough to be directly under one of these pop-up cells.
On Sunday, scattered downpours and thunderstorms become more likely as temperatures peak in the mid-90s°F (around 35°C). The humid air mass will push heat index values toward the triple digits, making it feel even more oppressive.
Storm chances stay elevated into the start of the workweek, with Monday through Wednesday holding steady at around a 40% likelihood of thunderstorm development. These storms will be hit-or-miss, meaning some neighborhoods might see a quick cooldown, while others remain hot and dry.
By Thursday and Friday, the storm pattern weakens, and temperatures rebound, with the heat index once again pushing close to 100°F (38°C).
