Sunday, July 7, southeast Michigan, including the Detroit metro area, is expected to see scattered thunderstorms and intermittent showers during the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain is most likely between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. local time, with potential for torrential downpours and isolated wind gusts reaching up to 60 miles per hour. While some storms may be intense, the risk of flash flooding remains marginal, as does the chance for severe weather overall.
A cold front moving in later in the day could bring a drop in temperatures, setting the stage for a cooler evening and overnight conditions.
The National Weather Service also notes a chance for additional storms on Wednesday and Thursday, although no significant weather threats are anticipated at this time.
