Saturday evening, storm cells swept across Dallas-Fort Worth, triggering intense downpours, flood warnings, and causing street flooding in parts of the metroplex. The National Weather Service reports that 1 to 3 inches (2.5 to 7.6 cm) of rain have fallen across the region, with localized areas receiving over 4 inches (10 cm).

A flood watch remains in effect through 7 p.m. Sunday, covering much of North Texas, including Dallas, Denton, and Collin Counties. In addition, a flash flood warning was issued late Saturday for areas such as Carrollton, Addison, and Plano, where 3 to 4 inches (7.6 to 10 cm) of rain were recorded in just 90 minutes.

Around 9:30 p.m., the weather service issued a critical update warning of dangerous flash flooding ongoing across these suburban zones. By that time, Carrollton police, in coordination with the city’s fire department, were already responding to multiple vehicles stalled in rising water, though no injuries had been reported as of 9:45 p.m.

Meanwhile, Dallas police confirmed they had assisted in at least two incidents involving cars trapped in high water. In each case, the drivers were able to exit safely and without injury.

The weather service issued a reminder to avoid low-lying roads and areas prone to flooding, and also added a flood warning for Greenville.

Looking ahead to Sunday, periods of rain and possible thunderstorms are expected to continue throughout the day. With the lingering moisture, high temperatures will remain in the upper 80s (around 31 °C), offering a slight break from the recent heat.
