Houston, Texas – In the early hours following Memorial Day, violent overnight storms rocked the Greater Houston region, jolting residents awake with powerful thunder and lightning. In northwest Harris County, one home experienced the full force of nature as a massive tree came crashing through its roof, sending shockwaves through the neighborhood.
The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office released photos of the scene, showing devastating structural damage, with shattered roofing materials and limbs piercing through the home’s upper level. The precise extent of the damage remains unclear, and no official reports have confirmed whether any injuries occurred during the incident.
The tree collapse is the latest consequence of intense severe weather that swept through the area overnight Monday into Tuesday, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and a dramatic light show in the skies over Houston. Commuters returning to work on Tuesday morning faced soggy roads and delays as first responders continued to assess weather-related hazards.
KPRC 2’s T.J. Parker is currently on the way to the northwest Harris County site to provide additional on-the-ground coverage. Further developments are expected as authorities secure the area and begin a full damage assessment.
The National Weather Service has not yet confirmed whether a tornado or straight-line winds were responsible for the tree fall, but given the intensity of the storm, all possibilities remain under review.
