Another rainy Saturday in Boston—13th in a row
Today, Saturday, June 8, 2025, skies over Boston and much of eastern Massachusetts remain gray, marking the 13th consecutive Saturday with at least a trace of rain recorded at Boston Logan Airport. Forecasts suggest about a quarter inch (6 mm) of rainfall is expected later in the day.
Western Massachusetts, southern Vermont, and southern New Hampshire remain under flood watches following Friday’s severe storms, which brought heavy downpours and flash flooding. An additional 1 to 2 inches (25–50 mm) of rain is expected today, increasing the risk of excessive runoff, overflowing rivers and creeks, and urban drainage issues.
Cold front pushing slowly southeast with storm line
Rain and isolated embedded thunderstorms will develop by late morning across northern New England, forming along and ahead of a slow-moving cold front that’s sliding southeastward. Boston is likely to see rain between 4 and 7 p.m., with showers reaching Cape Cod around dinnertime. The front will move offshore by sunset, making this a good evening to look out for rainbows as sunlight breaks through the clearing skies.
Cooler temperatures and lower humidity for Sunday
Tonight’s lows will dip into the 50s °F (10–15 °C), with areas of patchy fog possible overnight. By Sunday, humidity levels drop, giving way to some sunshine. Sea breezes will keep coastal highs in the 60s °F (15–20 °C), while inland areas warm up to the mid and upper 70s °F (24–26 °C).
Unsettled start to the week with more rain chances
Onshore flow continues into Monday, keeping highs in the 60s °F (15–20 °C). Scattered showers return as a small disturbance tracks south of the region. Most of the rain arrives Tuesday with a warm front, followed by a cold front pushing through between Tuesday night and Wednesday.
Sunshine and summer heat build midweek
By midweek, drier air and sunshine help push temperatures back into the low 80s °F (27–28 °C). Another storm system is being watched for potential rain sometime between Friday and Saturday, though many will be hoping that this one stays away. Stay tuned.
