Baltimore, Maryland – Sunday, July 6, 2025, 8:06 AM EDT (Updated at 3:49 PM) – Maryland is enjoying a brief break from unsettled weather, but conditions will shift quickly as Tropical Storm Chantal pushes northward along the East Coast. Sunday brings a taste of classic summer heat, but the tranquility won’t last long.
A hot and mostly sunny Sunday across Maryland
Today, temperatures in Maryland will soar into the low 90s°F (around 33°C), with the heat index making it feel more like the mid 90s°F (35°C). Skies will remain mostly sunny, giving residents a warm, bright day before tropical moisture makes its return.
Tropical Storm Chantal brings scattered showers Monday
Starting Monday, Chantal’s remnants will move across the region, bringing a wave of tropical moisture into Maryland. While the system is expected to weaken as it crosses land, its rain bands will still produce scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. Most skies will stay cloudy, but the day will not be a complete washout.
Humidity surges and heat intensifies through the workweek
As Chantal moves away, humidity levels will increase dramatically. By Tuesday, it will feel oppressive, with heat indices climbing into the upper 90s°F (37°C) and even reaching the low 100s°F (38–39°C) at times. The combination of moisture and high temperatures will make for uncomfortable conditions across much of the state.
Stalled front brings more storms midweek
After Monday, a frontal boundary is expected to stall over the region, maintaining a wet and stormy pattern. On Tuesday, storm activity becomes more frequent, and multiple rounds of rain are likely throughout the week. Highs will begin in the low 90s°F (32–33°C) and gradually dip into the upper 80s°F (30–31°C) as the weekend approaches.
