Friday: Dry daylight, then showers arrive late
Friday, June 13, starts off with mostly cloudy skies across New Jersey, with temperatures holding steady around the upper 60s to near 70°F (20–21°C) during the morning. The air will feel slightly sticky, especially across South Jersey, as on-shore winds pick up.
Despite the clouds, daytime hours will remain dry. By the afternoon, highs will peak near 80°F (27°C), which is a noticeable drop from Thursday’s highs, which soared 10 to 15 degrees warmer.
Rain is expected to begin late Friday night, most likely after 10 or 11 p.m., bringing widespread light to moderate rain through the overnight hours. Lows will dip into the lower 60s (about 16°C).
Saturday: Wet start, cloudy finish
Saturday, June 14, will feel like a throwback to early April, rather than a weekend just days from the Summer Solstice.
Rain will dominate the morning, especially across northern New Jersey, with steady and prolonged showers likely. The NAM weather model confirms continued wet conditions in the north through mid-morning Saturday.
By early afternoon, rain will taper off, but clouds will linger. Spotty and occasional showers could still interrupt the day in central and southern parts of the state. Severe weather is not expected, but conditions will remain damp and cool.
Temperatures Saturday afternoon will struggle to reach the mid-60s (18°C) due to the persistent cloud cover and on-shore breeze.
Sunday: Father’s Day with scattered showers
Sunday, June 15, marks Father’s Day, but the weather remains unsettled. Most of the state will deal with isolated or spotty showers, and some places — especially across South Jersey — may stay mostly or even completely dry.
Even in the drier spots, the skies will be overcast, and temperatures will hover in the upper 60s (around 20°C) during the afternoon. Inland South Jersey may manage to squeeze out a few 70s (21–23°C), depending on sunshine and precipitation.
Monday: Lingering clouds, chance of more rain
Monday, June 16, continues the gray and gloomy trend. There’s still uncertainty whether a final weather disturbance will bring another round of rain, or if the day will be limited to clouds and scattered showers.
Highs are projected to remain in the upper 60s (20°C), but cloud cover and precipitation will ultimately determine the afternoon peak.
Tuesday and beyond: Return of the sun and summer warmth
By Tuesday, June 17, skies begin to clear and temperatures rebound. Highs will climb toward 80°F (27°C). By Wednesday, temperatures will settle in the mid to upper 80s (29–31°C) and could reach the lower 90s (32–33°C) by Thursday.
Just in time, because next Friday, June 20, is the official start of summer, with the Summer Solstice arriving at 10:41 p.m. in New Jersey.
