Tonight: Muggy air lingers across Central Indiana

Central Indiana remains under mostly cloudy skies this evening, with light northeast winds around 5 to 10 mph. While conditions stay generally dry, the air remains muggy, and temperatures will drop only slightly, reaching lows near 66°F (19°C). Expect a humid, warm overnight that could feel sticky by early morning.

Tomorrow: Afternoon storms may pop up with sunshine breaks

Monday brings a mix of sun and clouds across the region, with highs warming to 85°F (29°C). Between 2 and 5 PM, isolated showers and thunderstorms could develop. Any storm cells that form may result in brief heavy rainfall, though coverage will be spotty. Winds remain light and variable, slightly favoring the east.

Tomorrow night: Humid with stray showers

A few isolated thunderstorms might linger past 8 PM, especially near and south of Indianapolis, but most areas will stay quiet and warm. Skies turn mostly cloudy again with lows around 68°F (20°C) and gentle southeast breezes continuing through the night.

Tuesday: Building warmth with growing storm potential

Storm activity increases on Tuesday, beginning with a few morning showers, then becoming more active after 11 AM. Scattered thunderstorms are expected into the afternoon, particularly west of Indianapolis, where heavier downpours may occur. Temperatures rise to around 88°F (31°C) under a humid southwest wind at 5 to 10 mph.

Tuesday night: Scattered storms continue overnight

Showers and thunderstorms are likely after midnight, keeping skies partly to mostly cloudy and the air humid. Overnight lows hold near 71°F (22°C). Expect a soupy, unsettled night with south-southwest winds at 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: Stronger system brings severe threat

A more organized storm system approaches on Wednesday, making it the week’s most active day. Showers and thunderstorms become widespread, especially after 2 PM, with strong to severe storms possible in the late afternoon and evening. Highs reach the mid 80s (29–30°C). Winds strengthen from the west-southwest at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph. Rain chance: 80%.

Wednesday night: Heavy rain and storms persist

Rain and thunder are expected to continue through the overnight hours, mainly before 2 AM. Lows remain warm near 69°F (21°C) with gusty southwest winds around 10 mph. Rainfall could be locally heavy, with lingering downpours into early Thursday morning. Rain chance: 80%.

Thursday: Front pushes east, but storms may linger

The cold front begins to exit the region, though a few storms may still pop up, especially east of I-65, during the afternoon. Otherwise, expect partly sunny skies and a high near 83°F (28°C). Winds shift westward around 10 mph. Rain chance: 30%.

Thursday night: Clearing skies, slightly cooler

Any remaining showers will taper off before midnight, giving way to mostly clear skies. Temperatures will cool slightly, settling near 64°F (18°C), with calm winds developing overnight.

Looking ahead: Building heat returns by the weekend

By Friday, sunshine returns and temperatures climb again to the upper 80s (31°C). The weekend heats up further, with mostly sunny skies and highs nearing the low 90s (32–33°C). Heat indices may surge past 100°F (38°C) by Sunday afternoon, ushering in a dangerous level of heat and humidity across Central Indiana.
